about

The words & music emerge from the gentle wild landscape of Golden Bay, Aotearoa New Zealand, recorded in a one-time-only special concert on a hill overlooking the sea.

Poetry is my politics. So these poems of oneness were born in a nutty activist feat. I promised to create a poem for each donation I received for the land rights campaign of my friends in the indigenous Amazonian community of Shiwa Yacu, Ecuador. They were fighting an historic legal battle to gain titles to their ancestral rainforest lands (and they won). I scribbled new verse every day for two months... and friends' donations covered this indigenous community's legal bills for the first phase of their case. So who said poetry doesn't pay? (oh, I used to say that! but I was wrong!) The jungle-dwelling families of Shiwa Yacu inspired me with their generosity, community spirit and connection to land. The CD is about inspiration and connection too.
